JONATHAN S BAKER lives and works in Evansville, Indiana, where they are the host and organizer of Poetry Speaks, Indiana’s longest running poetry series. They are also co-editor at The Grind Stone and editor-in-chief at Pure Sleeze Press. They have published 12 books of poetry including Long Nights in Stoplight City (Between Shadows Press, 2023), Pressure (Two Key Customs, 2023), Cock of the Walk (Laughing Ronin Press, 2022), and Raised in the TV (The Grind Stone, 2022).

Evansville resident TERESA ROY is a decades-long participant in the area’s poetry landscape. Published in the ancient poetry bibles Kayak and Exquisite Corpse, and in Nimrod, she was also a frequent contributor to this century’s Open 24 Hours, The Round Table.
She embraces Robert Graves’ epitaph: “To be a poet is a condition, not a profession.”
Emerging poets who need a supportive audience, and established poets who want to promote published works: Sign up for open mic! Your words are precious. (Time limit: 2-3 min. per open mic participant)
Come early to sign up for open mic; to meet and greet program participants; and to purchase food and beverages before the 7pm cafe closing time.
The Writers Guild @ Bloomington is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
