Stephanie C. Kane is a cultural anthropologist and Professor of International Studies in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies of IU Bloomington. Her ethnographic research on the political ecology of water and ice has led to many publications including two books: Where Rivers Meet the Sea: A Political Ecology of Water (2012, audio 2016) and the new Just One Rain Away: The Ethnography of River-City Flood Control (2022). Before the water books, she published The Phantom Gringo Boat: Shamanism and Development in Panama (1994) and AIDS Alibis: Sex, Drugs, and Crime (1998).

Darrell Stone grew up in Greater Boston, with an artistic passion for storytelling.  She holds a masters degree in social work from Indiana University and a bachelors degree in theatre from Northeastern University. Writing complements her love for being an observer of human behavior and our environment, which are additionally rooted in her professional careers of social work and theatre.  Ms. Stone’s essays are known for simply pausing on a moment which can be stunning, hopeful, humorous or meaningful to the human experience.  Ultimately, she hopes her writing provides a keen eye into the soul of the world around us.  Darrell is currently working on a book of essays with photographs for publication and performance.

The Writers Guild at Bloomington is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
