Navigating Childhood and Society in Recent African American Films
With Audrey McCluskey
A focus on recent films by Black screenwriters and directors that represent an alternative view
of what the socialization of Black children reveals
and explores the contrast to Hollywood’s typical portrayals of Black childhood.
Audrey McClusky is Emeriti Faculty, Indiana University, African American and African Diaspora Studies.
The class concludes with the Power of Words at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater on Saturday, February 5th at 7 pm.
The course fee is $75 and class attendees will enjoy:

preferred seating for the Power of Words event with Jacqueline Woodson,
a ticket to the book signing at the Library following the event,
