Join your local wordsmiths for a night of poetry, libations, and passion! The night will begin with an open mic featuring local artists, singers, and writers, and end with a two-round poetry slam.

A.M. Pressman is an Indonesian-American poet living in Richmond, Virginia. Their work has appeared on Button Poetry and Write About Now, and explores issues of mixed Asian identity, family, feminism, faith, and trauma through personal narratives. They are currently pursuing a BFA in Comm Arts with a minor in Poli Sci at VCU.

Pressman is the 2015 VCU Grand Slam Champion, 2016 CUPSI Best Poet Nominee, 2016 Southern Fried Indie Finalist, 2017 WOWPS Representative for Washington D.C.’s Beltway Slam, and 2016-2017 President of VCU’s nationally ranked poetry team, Good Clear Sound. They are the first Asian-American to represent Washington, DC at WOWPS.
