The March 2023 edition of Last Sunday Poetry & Open Mic, sponsored by the Writers Guild @ Bloomington, celebrates Women’s History Month by showcasing Angela Jackson-Brown and Patsy Rahn.

 

Angela Jackson-Brown is an award-winning writer, poet, and playwright. She has published her short fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry in journals that include The Louisville Journal and Appalachian Review, and her work has been anthologized in books like Revisiting the Elegy in the Black Lives Matter Era, and Not Like the Rest of Us: An Anthology of Contemporary Indiana Writers. Her scholarly research on co-constructed autoethnography, collaborative teaching, critical service-learning, and e-learning has been showcased in publications like the Journal of Black Studies and The Journal of Community Engagement and Higher Education. Her poetry collection, House Repairs, won the Alabama Author Award in Poetry sponsored by the Alabama Library Association in 2021.

Patsy Rahn‘s poetry and prose have been published in various journals and anthologies. Her first poetry book, The Grainy Wet Soul, was published in 2018. In 2021, she won the People’s Choice Award from the 5th Open Eurasian Literary Festival of Festivals. She has read for festivals, literary events, private homes, and pubs, as well as with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. One public reading on YouTube has received over 1,500 views. She continues to give public readings, and has a second poetry manuscript in search of a publisher.
