LIGHT AT THE END OF COVID is a raw, introspective poetry chapbook. Living in China as the pandemic unfolded, Darcy Fisher stood at a crossroads of cultures, witnessing the quiet unravelling of ordinary life, and the strange beauty that rose in its place. Through vivid imagery and cross-cultural insight, she gives voice to the loneliness of lockdown, the quiet heroism of everyday survival, and the fragile beauty of human connection. The collection offers not only a record of history but a path toward healing, inviting readers to find comfort and strength in the shared experience of loss, endurance, and recovery.
DARCY FISHER is a poet from Bloomington, Indiana, whose creative journey has taken her across continents — China being the major destination to which she had been lured. There, she led and organized poetry workshops, readings, and art events. Her poems, published in both China and the United States, bridges cultures and languages, while exploring the connections between place, memory, and identity. They also reflect her global perspective and her deep commitment to our shared language of art. Darcy Fisher writes like we breathe air to live.
RED FOR KANREKI is a full-length haiku collection comprised of two sections: “Bonsai Bloom” (snapshot observations of nature), and “Stone Icons” (terse commentary about US sociocultural phenomena). Although the haikus in this collection adhere to the traditional 5-7-5 syllable count per line format, they depart radically from other haiku conventions. The haikus in “Stone Icons,” in particular, are resonantly relevant in these times.
Author of two full-length poetry collections and six poetry chapbooks, HIROMI YOSHIDA is also the Poetry Editor of Flying Island Journal, and curator of the Writers Guild at Bloomington’s Last Sunday Poetry reading series. Winner of the Head-to-Head Haiku Battle at the 2022 Granfalloon Festival, she judged the 2025 Monroe County Public Library haiku writing contest, and led haiku workshops for the Indiana Writers Center.
