The Writers Guild at Bloomington presents Last Sunday Poetry & Open Mic
featuring JL Kato and John K. Kruschke
JL Kato’s poetry collection, Shadows Set in Concrete (Restoration Press, 2010), was selected as a Best Book of Indiana in 2011. A longtime ambassador of the literary arts, he was chosen as 2022 Literary Champion by the Indiana Authors Awards.
JL was born in Japan, and moved to Indiana at age two. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in journalism, and worked as a newspaper copy editor for 31 years.
JOHN K. KRUSCHKE’s poems have been published in a variety of journals including Blue Unicorn, Stickman Review, The Tipton Poetry Journal, Sage Magazine, The Lake, and Flying Island Literary Journal. He has also published numerous articles in scientific journals on topics ranging across moral psychology, learning theory, and Bayesian statistics. He is Provost Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University, Bloomington.

Writers Gabriel Peoples and Jake Williger
Gabriel Peoples is an associate professor of Gender Studies whose research is located at the nexus of performance, gender, and Africana studies. In Goin’ Viral: Uncontrollable Black Performance, he explores how Black people and their representations go viral and what happens when they do from the 18th-century to present.
J. M. Williger is an author originally from Porter, Indiana, who made his literary debut last year with The Rites of Iron, the first novel in The Trials of Gnash series. He currently lives in Indianapolis with his partner Maya and their dog Bloo.
